Berrigan, a quiet, traditional country town with clusters of historic buildings, is located 690 kilometers south west of Sydney. Berrigan is an ideal weekend getaway if you need time away from the busy life. It offers a quiet, rural atmosphere with a nostalgic feel. While in Berrigan, some activities to enjoy in would be a tour of the local wineries and taste their produce at the cellar door, exploring the Murray River or Lake Mulwala, both a half hour’s drive away. You can also check out “The Drop”, a part of a large water flow control system which allows water to divert from Mulwala Canal into the Berrigan Channel. During the month of September, the town celebrates the Berrigan Canola Festival. Fun activities include the Lawn Mower Race, the street parade, and face painting, animal nursery, jumping castle and a BBQ party, all aimed to make this a fun day for the family. The town, having a strong interest in horseracing, holds the annual Berrigan Gold Cup during the month of November. This event offers a fabulous picnic and carnival atmosphere that everyone is sure to enjoy.
